Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026
1. Introduction
This website uses cookies and related technologies (collectively, “cookies”). This policy explains which cookies we use and why. It applies alongside our Privacy Statement.
2. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file sent with the pages of this website and stored by your browser on your device. The information stored may be returned to our servers, or to the servers of relevant third parties, on a later visit. Some technologies described here are not strictly cookies — such as local storage, which stores data in your browser in a similar way — but they are treated the same for the purposes of this policy.
3. Cookies we place
3.1 Strictly necessary
These are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off. We place them without asking for consent, as permitted under applicable law.
- Authentication. If you sign in, our authentication provider (Supabase) sets cookies holding your session and refresh tokens so you stay signed in between visits. Signing out clears them.
- Sign-in security. During sign-in, a short-lived cookie holds a one-time verification value (a PKCE code verifier) that protects the login exchange from interception. It is discarded once sign-in completes.
3.2 Functional
- Mapping. The interactive map is rendered using Mapbox, which may use local storage to cache map tiles and record anonymous usage telemetry so the map loads faster on repeat visits.
- Preferences. If you choose a language, a cookie (gt_lang) remembers it so the site stays in that language. Your light or dark mode choice is kept in your browser’s local storage. Neither is used to identify you.
3.3 Statistics and marketing
We do not currently place advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not build user profiles for marketing purposes. If we introduce analytics in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where required.
4. Third parties
Some cookies are placed by services we use to operate the website. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
- Mapbox — interactive mapping.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
5. Managing cookies
You can delete cookies manually or automatically through your browser, and configure it to block cookies or notify you when one is set. Refer to your browser’s help section for instructions. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in, and parts of the site may not work correctly.
6. Your rights
You have the right to know why your personal data is needed, what happens to it, and how long it is retained; to access, correct, or delete it; to object to or restrict its processing; and to withdraw consent. See our Privacy Statement for detail, or contact us to make a request.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the website changes. The current version always applies, and material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
