Corrections and Removal Requests
Last updated: 13 October 2026
In short. If information about you or your organization on GivingTree Map is wrong, out of date, or something you don't want public, tell us. You don't need an account. We'll reply within 2 business days, hide the record while we check if it could cause harm, and decide within 15 days. Our editorial policy explains how we handle it.
What you can ask for
Corrections. If an entry about you, your organization or a deal is inaccurate or out of date, tell us what's wrong. Send a source if you can. That's the fastest way to fix it.
Removal. You can ask us to remove:
- personal data about you that you no longer want public
- content you created or own that you no longer want connected to GivingTree
- information that is outdated, inaccurate or no longer relevant
Removing your personal data is sometimes called the "right to be forgotten." It's a legal right under the GDPR and the LGPD, and we extend it to everyone, wherever you live.
How to ask
Use the contact form with "Correction" or "Removal" in the subject, or email info@givingtreemap.com. Include:
- a link to the page, or the name of the entry
- what's wrong, or what you'd like removed, and why
- for organizations, confirmation that you represent it (for example, an email from the organization's domain)
What happens next
We'll confirm we've received your request within 2 business days and give you a decision within 15 days, or sooner if your law requires it. If the information could cause harm while we check, such as a wrong amount or a deal that didn't happen, we'll hide it in the meantime. If you ask us to remove your name from a transaction, we always do it, and we hide the name while we process the request (see the Privacy Policy, section 9).
- Corrections backed by a reliable source are made as soon as we've verified them. The record shows that it was updated and when.
- If we keep a fact you dispute, we'll explain why and offer to add a short statement from you to the record. See Your right to reply.
- Removals of personal data are made unless we have a legitimate reason to keep it. For example, a public fact about an organization's funding may be in the public interest, or the law may require us to keep it. If we decline, we'll explain why and tell you how to complain to your data protection authority.
Copyright and content owners
We respect the work of the people and publishers we link to, and our intention is to benefit that work through increased exposure. If you believe something on GivingTree Map uses your copyrighted work without permission, such as a news excerpt, an image or a quote, tell us. Please include:
- the page on GivingTree Map and the material in question
- the original work you own, or a link to it
- your name and contact details, and a statement that you own the rights or are authorized to act for the owner
We'll review it promptly and, where the claim is valid, remove or change the material. For news feed items, we'll also stop showing your feed on request.
For US copyright notices (DMCA): our contact for copyright notices is Matthew Honold, GivingTree Global, Inc., 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, Delaware 19958, United States (our registered agent's address), info@givingtreemap.com. Formal notices must meet the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send us a counter-notice.
Corrections are part of the work
The Map is only useful if it's accurate. Every correction makes it better for everyone, so if you've helped improve the integrity of our database, thank you.
